Steven Jones, received his Ph.D. in physics from Vanderbilt University in 1978. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in his career. In April 2009, he coauthored the article, "Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe," which documented the existence of nano-thermite in a number of dust samples taken from the World Trade Center.
