PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT:
On Behalf of the People of the United States of America, the undersigned Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth and affiliates hereby petition for, and demand, a truly independent investigation with subpoena power in order to uncover the full truth surrounding the events of 9/11/01 – specifically the collapses of the World Trade Center Towers and Building 7. We believe there is sufficient doubt about the official story and therefore the 9/11 investigation must be re-opened and must include a full inquiry into the possible use of explosives that might have been the actual cause of the destruction of the World Trade Center Twin Towers and Building 7.

I read the FEMA September 2002 report, prepared by the American Society of Civil Engineers, and initially accepted their theory of the collapse of WTC 1 and 2. As more information became available on the web, I was motivated to research the subject in a more rigorous manner. I have carefully studied the Jones 2006 paper, 'Why Indeed Did the WTC Buildings Completely Collapse?' and concluded that it is a rational step-by-step study that met the acceptable standards for scientific building research. His critical reviews of the FEMA, NIST, and 9/11 Commission reports are correct. I have signed his petition calling for the release of all U.S. Government-held information regarding the events of 9/11/2001. Richard Gage and Steven Jones's call for a serious investigation of the hypothesis that the WTC 7 and the Twin Towers were brought down, not just by impact damage and fire, but through the use of pre-positioned cutter-charges, must be a rallying cry for all building design experts to speak out. They are following in the footsteps of Dr. Linus Pauling of the California Institute of Technology, who rallied his fellow scientists to oppose the development of the Hydrogen Bomb and the testing of nuclear weapons. He was later awarded the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize for these efforts.

No one has ever given me a clear explanation of why a CNN reporter stated that Building 7 had collapsed, when one could see it still standing in the background, only to see it collapse 1 hour later. I began having doubts about the official explanations for the collapse of the WTC towers soon after the explanations surfaced. The gnawing question that lingers in my mind is: how did the structures collapse in near-symmetrical fashion when the apparent precipitating causes were asymmetrical loading? The collapses defy common logic from an elementary structural engineering perspective. If you accept the argument that the fire protection covering was damaged to such an extent that structural members in the vicinity of the aircraft impacts were exposed to abnormally high temperatures, and if you accept the argument that the temperatures were high enough to weaken the structural framing, that still does not explain the relatively concentric nature of the failures.Neither of the official precipitating sources for the collapses, namely the burning aircraft, were centered within the floor plan of either tower; both aircraft were off-center when they finally came to rest within the respective buildings. This means that, given the foregoing assumptions, heating and weakening of the structural framing would have been constrained to the immediate vicinity of the burning aircraft. Heat transmission (diffusion) through the steel members would have been irregular owing to differing sizes of the individual members; the temperature in the members would have dropped off precipitously the further away the steel was from the flames'''just as the handle on a frying pan doesn''t get hot at the same rate as the pan on the burner of the stove. These factors would have resulted in the structural framing furthest from the flames remaining intact and possessing its full structural integrity, i.e., strength and stiffness.Structural steel is highly ductile; when subjected to compression and bending it buckles and bends long before reaching its tensile or shear capacity. Under the given assumptions, if the structure in the vicinity of either burning aircraft started to weaken, the superstructure above would begin to lean in the direction of the burning side. The opposite, intact, side of the building would resist toppling until the ultimate capacity of the structure was reached, at which point, a weak-link failure would undoubtedly occur. Nevertheless, the ultimate failure mode would have been a toppling of the upper floors to one side, much like the topping of a tall redwood tree, not a concentric, vertical collapse.For this reason alone, I rejected the official explanation for the collapse of the WTC towers out of hand. Subsequent evidence supporting controlled, explosive demolition of the two buildings is more in keeping with the observed collapse modalities and only serves to validate my initial misgivings as to the causes for the structural failures.

An event this significant must be investigated in the terms and methods of science, and free of political bias. The rigor of ae911truth.org and others, like David Ray Griffin, have shown the official account of the 9/11 events to be a confusing mix of truth and non-credible information. In light of the human life and liberties being taken based on this inconsistent account, American architects and engineers have a patriotic duty to investigate the portions of the account relating to their expertise and, if they find better explanations, provide formal or informal expert witness. When I saw the events of 9/11, I was a senior in high school. At the time I did not know much about building construction in general, but I could not overcome the feeling that something was wrong about the collapses. I remember thinking how fortunate they were that the buildings did not fall over, killing more people in the process. As I wrote to the professor of forensic engineering at Columbia University after hearing Mr. Gage: I think Gage's strength is that he strictly relies on network video clips, physical evidence, and eyewitness accounts to present his alternative analysis. I graduated architecture school two years ago, and started my own practice 4 months before graduating. I follow my instinct on everything, and August 13th, 1999 changed my life forever!
After I saw the second building fall, I instinctively wanted to know where George W. Bush was and I wanted to see his face. I didn't buy the Oklahoma bombing under Clinton or the first World Trade Center bombings, and I wasn't buying this either. I felt that Bush's face and his reaction would be very telling; I was right! He was overly nonchalant, after being told, and went on to say that he saw the first plane hit while he was waiting in his limo; that footage hadn't even aired yet, to the public. And when i saw that he was told at an elementary school setting, about the plane hitting the World Trade Center, it made me suspicious. It felt like an overly innocent setting. It wouldn't be until I found out that George W. Bush, Laura Bush and General Tommy Franks went to elementary school together; that the elementary school setting felt like a creepy homage. And when I saw a video-tape of a former CIA agent, turned whistleblower, that spoke at Portland State University 1-1/2 months after 9-11, there was no turning back, in my mind, that it was an inside job. He started out by saying that while the planes may have been remotely controlled, he wasn't going to talk about that. He was going to stick to what he could prove as fact; his presentation was convincing, even without demonstrating that the planes were remotely controlled. I got cable earlier this year, and started seeing exceptional documentaries, which showed 9-11 for what it was. Now, I don't doubt that those planes were remotely controlled. Especially after hearing from those like William Rodriguez, who heard explosions in the basement floors 7 seconds before the first plane hit. 7 seconds! That's exceptional timing. And to know that citizens who saw the planes before they hit, say that they didn't recognize the planes as passenger planes, but rather, as windowless commercial-type planes. I'm so happy that architects and engineers are finally speaking out!

I have been engaged in the design and project management of public buildings in diverse environments for most of my 35 year career. Half of that time was as principle architect in my own 15 person firm, and half as senior project manager in several larger E/A firms.
Do not attribute to deviousness, what can be explained by stupidity. (Lew Wallace, while Territorial Governor of New Mexico). I have no doubt that controlled demolition played an essential role in the collapse of all three buildings. But I can imagine scenarios in which the explosives were placed (for stupid reasons) without expecting the attack by airplanes and then were implemented in response to that attack (again for stupid reasons). Conspiracy requires a level of intelligence not in evidence. Cover up is the primal response to stupidity.

My questions focus on #7 WTC. There can be no doubt that it was a controlled demolition. The only question is why was it done on that day. And if there were any doubts, why can't the circumstances be more fully examined? - - A B-25 bomber flew directly into the Empire State Building on a Saturday, and the building was open for business the following Monday, with the exception of the most adversely affected areas near the top. - - Different type of aircraft - different type of building. But it is difficult to reconcile that instance with what happened to 7WTC on 9/11.

At 1.8 million square feet, WTC 7 was possibly larger than any building on the West Coast. Bank of America (1.4 million sf) and the Transamerica Pyramid (.5 million sf), the two highest buildings in San Francisco, are together only slightly greater in area. Few Americans know that WTC 7 collapsed, even fewer know how big it was. I have read that its collapse was shown only one time on television; in its documentaries about the WTC collapse, PBS not only didn't explain the collapse of WTC7 but never even mentioned the collapse of a third building, because doing so would have undermined their conclusion that planes and jet fuel were responsible for the collapses. Much evidence exists of explosions throughout the WTC buildings. Persistent pools of 2000 degree metal can only be explained by the presence of thermite/thermate, used in planned demolitions. Squibs, puffs of smoke characteristic of planned demolitions, can be clearly seen in advance of the collapses. The official story does not explain the collapse of WTC7 or the collapse of the cores of WTC 1 and 2. YouTube videos of a BBC reporter announcing the collapse of WTC7 just prior to its actual collapse is convincing proof that the authorities had advance knowledge of its imminent collapse. There is just one explanation for the evidence associated with these collapses: demolition by expertly planned and placed explosives.

Quite evident that the collapses were by design and not free fall destruction as the official story purports. It looked exactly the same as pre-wired building demolition and implosion.

After studying various reports, videos, and other information, it is my opinion that the reopening of the 911 commission is warranted. The recent book written by two 911 commission leaders includes a first chapter entitled We were set up to fail. This does not do justice to the lives lost. This event was tragic and does not deserve to be clouded in unanswered questions. The pulling of building seven has to my knowledge not been explained.

From the very first moment I saw the images on the TV of the towers falling, I felt there must be some reason for the collapse other than the plane crashes and resulting fires in the buildings. It seemed to me that the damage would be limited to floors where the planes hit and the fire was able to spread and therefore any collapse would be partial, but not total. I also wondered how the failure of this magnitude was possible when buildings are designed with redundant fire and structural systems to address instances specifically like this event.

I have been a practicing architect/urban designer and management consultant with over 40 years experience and the founder and president of Barasch Architects & Associates, Inc., a multidisciplined architecture/engineering corporation. I have had broad experience in the planning, design & engineering of multi-story, braced-frame and moment-resisting steel frame structures including office towers and large scale institutional complexes.
After reviewing the data presented by the Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth Organization and through my independent assessment of the data I have reviewed, and based on my 40+ years of professional experience, I have concluded that it would be nearly impossible for any of the principal World Trade Center Towers to collapse in the manner or in the recorded time frame as a result of any fire or explosion caused solely by the impact of terrorist-guided aircraft alone. Braced steel frame buildings simply don't collapse in a symmetrical manner with a uniform plume of debris in 102 or 56 minutes respectively with modern structural design standards and state-of-the-art life-safety systems which must be continuously inspected by local building inspectors based on ever increasing performance standards centered on human survival.

The official conspiracy theory describing the events of 11 September 2001 (9-11) defies logic from beginning to end. The NIST and FEMA investigation of the 3 WTC buildings' collapse defies logic and physics. If it looks, smells, and tastes like controlled demolition, it probably is controlled demolition.
